Flatbed Printing
Need to print on rigid materials? Flatbed printing is the way to go. We print directly onto a wide range of rigid substrates such as corflute, corrugated card, palight (foam PVC), compressed card and honeycomb board. We use environmentally friendly HP Latex inks, producing high quality, durable, economical signs and boards that are better for both your wallet and the planet.
FLATBED PRINTING
Flatbed Printing – we print directly onto a range of rigid substrates. Many print and signage companies print on vinyl and apply to the rigid board (and we can do this too if needed), but printing directly to the substrate saves time, money and the extra layer of plastic vinyl.
- Printed with genuine HP Latex ink
- Durable and high quality prints, with no harmful chemicals or volatile organic compounds (VOC’s)
- Max sheet size 1220 x 2440mm, larger prints can be tiled across multiple sheets.
CORFLUTE – Available in 3.3mm or 5mm thick. Corflute is a very economical, lightweight plastic board made of extruded polypropylene – the stuff most real estate signs are made of. Suitable for indoor or up to 2 years outdoor use.
3mm PALIGHT (foam PVC) – Available in other thicknesses by request, palight has a premium, smooth finish without the visible ridges of corflute. Suitable for indoor or short to mid-term outdoor use, the product is waterproof etc but will warp with prolonged sun exposure.
2mm DISPLAY BOARD – Available in other thicknesses by request, display board is a compressed cardboard with a smooth, white surface (like a thick jigsaw puzzle material). 100% paper-based and recyclable. Suitable for indoor use only. **Max sheet size 1220 x 2300mm
10mm HONEYCOMB BOARD – Available in other thicknesses on request (minimum orders may apply), honeycomb board is an environmentally friendly with a smooth white surface. The honeycomb structure inside makes this product very strong and rigid, while also very lightweight. 100% paper-based and recyclable. Suitable for indoor use only.
TURNAROUND TIME – Small orders can be printed within 2 working days. Allow up to 4-5 working days for larger orders or during peak times.
PACKAGING – All rigid flatbed prints are packaged with bubble wrap and/or corrugated cardboard.
SHIPPING – Rigid prints can of course be large and bulky. Standard couriers will take items up to 1.8m in length, and anything larger will be sent via an oversize freight company such as Mainstream.
If your files don’t match these criteria perfectly, often we will find a way to make them work anyway… we’re pretty clever like that. If we notice something that seems out of place, we’ll get in touch before we print.
- FILE TYPE – PDF (preferred). We also accept high res TIFF or JPEG.
- SCALE – Set files to 100% of final print size.
- BLEED – Add 5mm bleed to each edge.
- CROP MARKS – If your boards are just being cut to squares or rectangles, please include crop marks.
- CUTPATH – If your boards require cutting to a custom shape, please include the cut path in your file (instructions here).
- RESOLUTION – Image files and raster graphics should be set to at least 300dpi (ppi) at 100% size. Vector graphics will be rendered at our max print resolution and will print cleanly at any size.
- FONTS – All fonts (if supplying a PDF) should be embedded or converted to outlines (paths).
- COLOUR – Our flatbed uses an expanded ink set, so if you’ve designed in CMYK then great, we can absolutely print those colours. If your file is set up in RGB just leave it that way and our software and printers will get as close as possible to the intended colour.
- LAYERS – All layers, especially transparency layers, should be flattened.
- EDITING – Do not preserve editing capabilities – this can make your file sizes massive and hard for us to work with. Instead, save your working files separately.
