SADDLE STAPLED BOOKLETS - INSTANT QUOTE
Self-cover saddle stapled booklets – the paper type of the cover and interior pages are the same throughout the booklet. Ideal for zines, catalogues, lookbooks, or event programs where a compact, easy-to-read format is key.
- Digitally printed on Revoria PC1120 digital press.
- Saddle stapled spine.
- Printed in CMYK or BNW.
100, 150, 250gsm Uncoated – a popular uncoated or “matte” paper type. This gives a more natural sort of paper feel and is easy to write on. **Note – these are printed with toner, which has a slight shine, so areas of dense print will appear somewhat glossy.
128, 170, 250gsm Satin – this is our popular satin / silk / semigloss paper. Great results when printing lots of images and bold colours. **Note- the satin finish of the paper means there is more uniformity between printed and unprinted areas on the page.
STANDARD Saddle Staple – The booklet is folded right in the centre of the spine (creased first for heavier stocks). This is the industry standard, and it works well for low page count, up to say 28pp depending on stock weight. If the page count or stock weight is too high however, the booklets can bulge a bit and not sit perfectly flat.
SQUARE SPINE Saddle Staple – The booklet is stapled in the centre as per usual, but the spine is compressed into a sort of double fold to create a flat spine like a PUR bound book. This makes the booklet sit flatter when closed, especially useful for higher page counts (with low page count the difference will be barely noticeable).
TURNAROUND TIME – Small orders can be printed within 2-3 working days. Allow up to 4-5 working days for larger orders or during peak times.
SHIPPING – Booklets are bundled with paper bands, then packed in cardboard boxes. The number per bundle / box will vary depending on the size and thickness of the booklets.
If your files don’t match these criteria perfectly, often we will find a way to make them work anyway… we’re pretty clever like that. If you forget to add crop marks and bleed, we’ll trim to the edge. If we need to scale up or down, no problem. If we notice something that seems out of place, we’ll get in touch before we print.
- FILE TYPE – Multipage PDF (preferred). We also accept high res TIFFs and JPEGs if need be, though there are serious limitations when it comes to bleed and creep adjustment etc so extra setup charges may apply.
- PAGE COUNT – Page count must be a multiple of 4 (think of the 4 panels on a double sided sheet that’s folded in half). Maximum page count 100pp (25 x folded sheets) on lightweight paper.
- SINGLE PAGES – Export your file as single pages, not spreads. We will do the print imposition at our end.
- SCALE – Set files to 100% of final print size plus an additional 3mm of bleed on each edge, with crop marks indicating the trim size.
- SAFE AREAS – Avoid thin borders, or crucial text and design elements being placed right on the edge of the page. Bring these elements in from the edge creating a “safe area” of at least 5mm inside the edge of the page.
- RESOLUTION – Image files and raster graphics should be set to 300dpi (ppi) at 100% size.
- FONTS – All fonts should be embedded or converted to outlines (paths).
- COLOUR – Booklets are printed on a CMYK digital press, so if you’ve designed in CMYK then great, we can absolutely print those colours. If your file is set up in RGB just leave it that way and our software and printers will get as close as possible to the intended colour.
- LAYERS – All layers, especially transparency layers, should be flattened.
- EDITING – Do not preserve editing capabilities – this can make your file sizes massive and hard for us to work with. Instead, save your working files separately.
