Canvas Prints

Top Notch Quality

We're perfectionists, and our production team are some of the most anal people you'll come across. Whether it is hand checking and eyeballing each and every print, stressing about stretching a canvas over a frame juuuust right, or singing soothing lullabies whilst packaging and tucking everything up for the long trip to you, your product will leave our production house feeling loved and cared for.

Canvas
Printed on a high-quality synthetic canvas (240gsm), your artwork will not sag over time. Colour accuracy is high and maintains itís consistency for years to come.

Print / Ink
We use the highest quality pigment inks - guaranteed to stay bright and as crisp as the day they were printed.

Laminate / UV Protection
We coat our printed canvases in a specially formulated non-yellowing protective sealant. This provides UV protection and wear resistance. You can clean your images with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Wooden Frames
NZ-Made kiln-dried and seasoned pine framing. We use clean, straight frames which are strong and not prone to warping like cheap imported frames. They have a 32mm depth (front to back), and feel nice and weighty in your hand.

Packaging
Your beloved canvas is packaged in some cosy bubble wrap and encased in a lovely pizza style box, for the lonely trip to your door.

Colour Management
Our machines are colour-calibrated daily, so your images will be reproduced as close as possible to your files. For those who need to know, we use CMYK ICC Coated SWOP V2 profile.

Wrap Options
When ordering online there are 5 options for you, and the best choice will depend on the suitability of your canvas.

1) Pixel Stretch - We take the last few pixels of the edge of the canvas and stretch them round the side. It kinda looks like the lines you see streaming off the side of the Starship Enterprise when Scotty moves it to warp speed.
Good for: Images with blocks of solid colour at the edge
Bad for: Images with lots of colour at the edge (unless that is what you want.)

2) Mirror - We take a 30mm border around the sides of the front of the picture, and apply a mirrored image down the edge of the frame. Be careful not to have Auntie Mildred's ear and eye near the edge of the canvas though, 'cause it'll look a bit weird when she's got 3 ears and 3 eyes.
Good for: Landscapes and images where there is a good border of fairly innocuous background
Bad for: Pictures of people that are right up to the edge of the canvas

3) Colour Average - Our software will pick out the most common (or average) colour that will look the best on your print.
Good for: If you don't mind what colour the wrap comes out as or you want the wrap to have the same general feel as the image.
Bad for: It is difficult to predict the colour, so if you want a specific colour it's best to choose black or white.

4) Black - Need we explain?
Good for: If you really like Marilyn Manson.
Bad for: If you want white.

5) White - That'll be white then.
Good for: If you really like Marilyn Monroe.
Bad for: If you want black.

With all of these options, our website will help and guide you along the way, just click on the '?' icon for a visual representation.

Other Bits & Bobs

Hanging and Cleaning
We advise you use a 3M command hook to hang your canvas, so you don't damage your nicely painted walls. As for the canvas itself, obviously don't sit on it, lay on it or do push ups on it. For that matter, there is no need to spray cleaning fluids on it - a soft damp cloth with a mild detergent will do the trick, thanks to the lamination.
The bags are not laminated, but are pretty tough and bar the occasional scuff you shouldn't have a problem. Again, they can be wiped down with a mild detergent.

Longevity
The length of time your canvas will last depends on the amount of UV the print is exposed to. Under controlled circumstances, the ink we use is 'archival rated' and will last 200 years before fading. If you leave it on a roof top in Yuma, Arizona then you're asking for trouble, but in a real-world environment (say in your lounge, out of direct sunlight), it'll be sweet for at least 50 years. Long enough to leave that dirty picture frame mark on the wallpaper that you see in your Nan's house.

We offer an unconditional 10 year guarantee on the quality and longevity of our prints.

Sizes
We have a number of standard sizes (check out out pricing page), but you can of course add your own sizes. There's probably no point in trying to defy the law of physics, but we have printed some of the biggest, 'monstrous', canvases in New Zealand.

Turnaround
14 days, excluding delivery time (1-3 days)
